I won the first and second place in Czech Nature Photo, Landscape category! Both of these photos are from my Iceland trip last autumn, from which you can find more work on my website (www.danielfranc.art/island). It was with great pleasure and also respect for all nature photographers that I received my prizes yesterday at the opening of the exhibition of the prize-winning photos, which is on until September at the Czech Photo Center in Prague Butovice. There are some great pieces there, for example another islander by Jirka Benda, who also took the award with me in Krajina, see photo.
All award winning photos here (but there are more at the exhibition): https://www.czechphoto.org/cnp/vysledky-2022/
And as for these two award winners of mine:
* I took the Fire Dragon (first place) on the first day of my stay. I didn't even want to go to the volcano that day, I had planned it for the end of the trip, but then curiosity got the better of me and I went there right away. And good thing I did, because the volcano was no longer active for a couple of weeks.
* The snow-covered Highlands (second place) again occurred on the last day you could go there - the next day they wouldn't even let you take a quad. At the same time, the first snow didn't completely cover the lava surface of the park, creating some pretty unique drawings that were all under snow the next day.
